My teammate my Junior year was Michael Beasley, who ended up becoming the 2nd pick in the NBA draft.
My other teammate Ricky Sanchez was 6 ft 11 and the last player to be drafted by the NBA while still a minor, drafted 8 days before his 18th birthday.
My other teammate was the top ranked player in the United States in 9th grade and had a crossover so nasty he made me fall (one time, ok maybe a few times)
My other teammate was 6 ft 9 and started at PF at USC.
My first game of my Junior year season was at Fresno State college in front of 12,000 people, and I was on the floor at the same time as 5 future NBA players. My first shot attempt that game, an open 3 pointer from the corner, or so I thought - was swatted violently into the stands by 7 ft 1 Brook Lopez.
One day while doing a private shooting workout with my coach, Chauncey Billups and Tayshaun Prince (NBA Champions) show up and start rebounding for me. They were training next with my coach.
This wasn’t your normal HS basketball team and experience. I was surrounded by the best athletes in the world, and although I wasn’t one of the best like them - it only motivated me to strive for greatness and keep working harder.
